Cell Phone Policy

  • Juniors (grades 7-9): must put their phones in their lockers before first period in the morning. They may retrieve them during lunch, and then put them back in their lockers before afternoon classes begin. Students are permitted to use their phones in the office if necessary (see below).  
  • Seniors (grades 10-12): must put their phones in their lockers before first period in the morning. Students may use their phones during lunch time and during their prep period in designated areas only. During prep periods, students are only permitted to use their cell phones in the library or the cafeteria. 
  • All students: 
  • During instructional time, cell phones are not permitted to be used in the hallways. If students need to contact home (for issues related to school pick-up, etc.), they may come to the office to use their cell phone. Cell phone use is not permitted in the bathrooms or stairwells. 
  • At lunchtime, cell phones can only be used in the cafeteria, the library, or outside of the school. 
  • Cell phone use is not permitted in the ISS room. 
  • Cell phones should not be in use at any time once you have entered a classroom unless your teacher has explicitly told you that you may use your phone for a lesson. Teachers must get advanced approval from school administration if they plan to use cell phones for any part of a lesson.
